We all know that, despite Plantforce running one of the freshest fleets of equipment, a reality of life with heavy equipment tackling a wide range of tough tasks means that breakdowns happen. But it is the way you react that is the key to delivering excellent customer service. So this month, we’re delighted to be recognising Scott Warman and James Anderson for an outstanding display of technical expertise and teamwork that saved both time and cost for us and our customer.

Faced with the challenge of a failed main drive gearbox on one of our 15-tonne single drum rollers, Scott and James stepped up to tackle what would normally require a full machine exchange and delay to our customer. They decided to rebuild the gearbox on site.

This is no small task. The repair demanded great precision, with both engineers working together to simultaneously line up and engage seven different gears while handling a heavy 25kg unit located deep inside the roller’s main frame. It was a job that required not just skill, but patience, focus, and seamless collaboration to ensure everything was perfectly aligned and functioning correctly.

Thanks to their combined effort, the gearbox was successfully rebuilt without the need for a roller exchange. Their quick thinking and technical know-how avoided significant downtime for the customer and eliminated the need for a replacement machine.

Scott and James demonstrated the very best of Plantforce, initiative, expertise, and teamwork. By taking on this complex rebuild on site, they turned a potential logistical challenge into a smooth, cost-effective solution.

Their dedication and ability to work in perfect sync didn’t just fix a machine; it kept a project moving and reinforced the trust our customers place in us to deliver, no matter the challenge.

A huge thank you to Scott and James for going above and beyond to get the job done. Your skill, professionalism, and commitment to finding smarter solutions make a real difference every day.
