Job Purpose:
The National Operators Manager is responsible for directing, coordinating, planning and overseeing tasks and operations within the Operators Division. As a national role, they will drive the growth of the Operators Division for the UK, including the growth into new territories and major projects (regardless of geographical location) for all operators across the business. The measurement of success will be based on key metrics that demonstrate customer satisfaction due to the provision of quality operators when required, whilst increasing revenue and protecting margin.
In addition to the Operator Division, this role will work with strategically with the commercial team, expanding the operational involvement of the Company’s offering to customers. We pride ourselves on the high level of customer service we provide, so it is important that ultimate efficiency from the Operator Management team is provided to all areas of the business.
A key responsibility is the management and development of direct reports, promoting employee engagement and motivation to deliver excellent customer service.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide out of hours contact point for any escalated calls where required, to resolve any issues or queries that may be raised
- Ensuring effective management of the Operator division, including reviewing any areas for additional support and training, appraisals, regular reviews, etc.
- Implement effective processes, practices and improvements across the function
- Deliver the national growth and revenue targets for the Operator division
- Manage, audit and review operator systems, assessments, and training to ensure that operators are fully compliant and have the appropriate skill sets
- Promote and maintain responsibility for performing all duties in compliance with related legal/statutory, regulations and professional duties
- Develop new initiatives and ways to optimise the Operator management and recruitment functions
- Ensure the close liaison, collaboration and smooth interface between functions in the delivery of operated hire orders
- Adhere to budgets and plan to maximise profitability, actively engaging with the Finance review process
- Carry out additional duties when requested by senior management / directors
- Provide departmental cover when required for absences, payroll, or any other tasks that may have a direct impact on the operator management team
Skills and attributes:
- Significant operational experience and a thorough understanding of the plant hire industry.
- Previous management in a similar role, within the plant industry and the ability to prove strong working knowledge of industry regulation, H&S practice and legal guidelines
- Experience in developing budgets and strategic business plans.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to communicate with all levels of the business
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and strong IT skills.
- Strong and calm leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate and support a team.
- Pro-active and self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and adherence to tight deadlines.
