Element 1 Project

Plantforce is a partner in the Element 1 project. Funded by the UK Government Department for Energy Security and Net Zero,  this initiative introduces hydrogen as a cleaner fuel to reduce diesel use in heavy off-highway equipment on construction sites. By adapting engines to run on 30-50% hydrogen, this project will test the feasibility of rolling out hybrid hydrogen-diesel engines to existing machines, which will cut emissions without replacing machinery, avoiding unnecessary waste.

Over the project duration, the project partners will showcase these solutions on live construction sites, demonstrating hydrogen’s role in reducing fossil fuel reliance. The design and demonstration of an end-to-end solution for the manufacture, supply, distribution, storage and use of hydrogen as a fuel are all included within the project scope.
