Job Purpose:

Being a passionate and experienced individual who will play a key role in continued expansion within our digital division in the North of England. This role is perfect for someone with significant previous experience in machine control installation, with previous experience of leading a successful team, or if you are ready to take that next big step in your leadership career – this could also be for you.

This role will involve supporting the Plantforce Digital Division team, building strong working relationships with team members and customers alike, ensuring the efficient and effective active management of installations such as Trimble Earthworks and Lecia MC1 machine control systems on site for customers or in one of our depots situated around the UK. Responsible for developing and organising new hires and responding to new hire enquiries.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Build and continuously develop strong working relationships with team members and customers
  • Efficient and effective management of the GPS machine control division including training and developing the engineers.
  • Ensure proactive account management is maintained and promoted within the division
  • Liaise with customers on equipment breakdowns
  • Liaise with hire desk to ensure timely and efficient processing of all on/off hire orders
  • Book and track all machine control equipment repairs and servicing
  • Liaise with machine control manufacturers to organise repair of machine control equipment
  • Assist with daily stock checks
  • Delivery, fitting and calibration of wiring harnesses to pre-approved specification on customer
  • sites
  • Welding and fabrication of sensor brackets and mast mounts.
  • Together with the above, the role would also encompass installation of human form recognition cameras, height and slew restrictors and any other innovations as the role develops.

Essential Requirements and qualifications:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Full Driving Licence
  • Leadership experience – or the ambition to grow into a leadership role
  • Sound auto-electrical/mechanical knowledge
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety good practice and legislation
  • Strong hands-on experience with Leica or Trimble machine control systems
  • Previous experience of setting up calibration of excavators and dozers
  • A working knowledge of HFR camera systems
  • Basic understanding of height and slew restrictors
  • High standard of welding/fabrication to include hot works
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of Risk assessments and method statements
